Tazewell Courthouse Common Soldier (Jefferson, Virginia)

Standing in front of the county courthouse in Tazewell, VA, the Common Soldier monument directly commemorates "the Confederate Soldier of Tazewell". Facing North in an aggressive and vigil pose, the Soldier is made of white bronze, a material commonly used for this form. Both funded and erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy Jefferson Chapter, information regarding the cost, artist, and creator of the monument is not readily available. As of July 2020, debate surrounding the removal of the monument was occurring, but no further action has been made to do so.
