"May We Never Forget That Freedom Is Not Free It is to the members of our Armed Forces from the City and County of Kenosha who sacrificed their lives defending our freedom that this memorial is dedicated. It stands as a tribute to all of our veterans. It was designed to provide freedom and justice to all Americans. However, it was the soldiers who went into the battlefields and fought, often giving their lives, that made the Bill of Rights a reality and gave Americans the freedoms they enjoy. America's Armed Forces on land, the High Seas, and in the air enforced the cause of freedom. Throughout the history of this country, it has been the American Armed Forces that protected those rights and made our country what it is today. Because of the soldier, we have earned the right to be what we are...free Americans. It is the Soldier... It is the Soldier not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press It is the Soldier not the poet who has given us freedom of speech It is the Soldier not the campus organizer who has given us freedom to demonstrate It is the Soldier not the lawyer who has given us the right to a fair trail It is the Soldier who salutes the flag who serves under the flag whose coffin is draped by the flag Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
